DD x The Other Art Fair

This body of work represents an inflexion point not only in my life but my practice. Transitioning through various cultures, over the past 18 months has been an invigorating experience. I sought to bring those fresh perspectives in my work, highlighting the benefit of trials stretching out of my comfort zone.

Many of these works were finished on various continents in my travels, and each highlight very personal experiences. From the Goree islands in Senegal to the devil trails of Arizona. By employing colour heavily into my work I sought to portray the elemental, cultural, and political essence of these spaces to a visual experience.

The deeper clash of colours with my traditional line work is representative of my shift in the way I approach painting today, and I owe it to the many new perspectives I’ve been exposed to over a short amount of time.
